Compulsory education is made up of the primary school and secondary school I levels, and attendance is free of charge for all children. Local authorities are responsible for ensuring that every child is able to attend a state school in their own place of residence.
Together with parents, school is there to provide the education that best suits the child’s abilities and potential. School aims to nurture the development of a child’s physical, mental, creative and social skills.
Drawing on the Christian, humanistic and democratic tradition, school helps its pupils to grow into independent, conscientious and tolerant individuals who are able work well with others.
The primary school is divided between the Hämisgarten and Talholz school buildings and part of the Burggarten building.
